    Hello there!
I`m having a problem with my wordpress website.
I have installed Let`s Encrypt SSL for few websites – 2 of them are working perfectly (like HTTPS is visible instantly) without any plugin (I have no idea why), but 2 left are not working properly.
First of all – when I wanted to manually enter “https” every page was showing 404 error. I reinstalled the Let`s Encrypt SSL through my hosting (its one-click setup), but problem was still there.
After few tries with changing settings in wp-config, htaccess, etc., I installed Really Simple SSL and activate it.
And after that my whole website goes into 404 mode, I cannot login, visit any page – it`s totally down.

I need to remove all SSL info from wp-config, DB, htacces, and then website will still show 404, but after manually entering to /wp-admin with “http” not “https” (here`s second problem – after deleting everything about “HTTPS”, my website still tries to go into HTTPS mode) I can log in.

    So, basically.
Let`s Encrypt -> HTTPS is not working / HTTP is working
Let`s Encrypt -> Really Simple SSL -> HTTPS is not working / HTTP is not working

Thank you very much for your support, and I hope that you can understand me without problems.

    Hi @vister81,

does the homepage work or is that down too? 404 errors can be caused by a number of things, most commonly by an issue with the permalinks. Could you follow the instructions from this article to see if that resolves the issue: https://really-simple-ssl.com/knowledge-base/404-pages-wordpress-site-migrating-ssl/? If the admin area still redirects to https:// after removing all the redirects, you can try to open the site in an incognito window or clear your browsers cache.

Thank you @markwolters for your answer.

Unfortunately I tried everything that you said.
I`ve got one-page website, but even wp-admin or media links are dead.

I removed all redirects (even in DB) and I still need to manually delete “s” from HTTPS to log in.

    Hi @vister81,

does the site still redirect to https:// when visiting over http://? If all redirects have been removed, the site should load over http:// without redirecting. If it still redirects, it could be there’s still a redirect active. If you can provide us with your .htaccess file we can have a look. Could you also provide us with your domain name?

    Mark
