I am currently getting a ‘Page not found’ 404 error and have been all day. I’ve tried changing the URL, but not had any luck.

I’m not really sure where to look to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

“Pathinfo” permalinks (where you have index.php in the URL) may not work as well as do true pretty permalinks. Are you able to change the structure at all?

I am able to change the permalinks structure yeah. I guess the confusion is that it did work, nothing was changed or updated our end and now it’s broken? What would be the best link structure to use? I assume it’s one of the default options of wordpress.

/%postname%/ is a solid choice for most users, though with true pretty permalinks you’ve got a fair amount of flexibility there.
