After running the installer.php file on localhost I get the following error:

The requested URL /cgi-bin/php5327exif-cgi/mydomainname/installer.php was not found on this server.

I’ve done everything right and have used the plugin lots of times without getting this.

I am cloning a site from live server to localhost MAMP

  • Hey pcaweb,

Here is a helpful section on the FAQ page:
    -> Browse to: http://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq/
-> Find Section: “2. Installer=> Everything installed but I keep getting redirected to another URL or 404 errors.”

    Hope that helps…

Thanks for the update. If it helps folks who run into this issue, here’s what I did to resolve it (I’m on a Mac):

    1) open terminal
    2) type defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
    3) open the folder where the site is
    4) look for a hidden htaccess file and delete it
    5) check to see if the site loads – it worked for me

to turn off the show hidden files setting, just run the above command with a NO at the end instead of YES

Excellent plugin – use it all the time and will continue to do so

    Hi pcaweb,

    Thanks for posting your fix!

    No problem!

Just to clarify, instruction to type into Terminal is:-

    defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES

    Hope it helps someone.
