    Summary:
Strange behavior in th use of [location] as a URL of a website

    Message:
For the legacy GCal plugin I set up [location] in WordPress as <div>Location: [location]</div>

The location is set up to be http://www.<foo&gt;.com

When I upgraded to the current GCal, the [location] setting was interpreted by WordPress to be the current page and threw a 404.

I have reverted to the legacy plugin while I figure this out

What exactly are you trying to do?

The location should be pulled from the calendar if one is set.

Nick: Thank you for the follow up

The value in [location] from Googe calendar is the URL for the event web site ie “www.foo.com” I want to make that a clickable link. For simple calendar, WordPress returns me the URL of the WP page/post I am on. The legacy Gcal returns me http://www.foo.com. I have the same on the page in both case

That’s just a change that was made in the 3.x versions. It will return the location automatically now so you don’t have to put in the location URL.
