If I perform a search in all categories with a specific tag and there are no results(I think there are no results) I get a 404 instead of a no-results page.

Unfortunately I don’t. However, I found the issue is that we are using a custom permalink structure.

Ahhh – thanks for the info – will look into and get updated – we updated this for custom permalinks for taxonomies but not CPTs
