• I’m trying to add a hyper link to a page with other links. I keep getting a 404 Not found error within my template border. I tried a suggestion on this forum of just adding the file to the root directory http://www.fellowshipofchristiancounselors.com/joy.doc but it didn’t work. In cpanel, I’ve tried moving the file to the root directory. I also have had it in wp-content/uploads directory and I’ve tried adding it via the dashboard using the add hyperlink and upload the file from my computer which gives me an error message that the permissions aren’t right for me to add the file. Any help would be great.
    Thanks,

  • Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

I tried changing the permissions and if I did that right, It still didn’t work. I also tried to upload a picture to another page on the site and got an error message that says: Unable to create directory /home/fellowsh/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Are these connected? Thanks for your help.

Any help on my above post on getting a hyperlink to work. Also, the error message “Is its parent directory writable by the server?” when I try to upload a picture or file.
    Thanks,
