• I installed a clean WordPress 5.2.2 without any additional installations like themes or plugins.
When I go to the dashboard –> Design –> Customizer an then back to the dashboard there is always an error “404 POST /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php HTTP/1.0” in the protocol.
I cannot see any error messages in the dashboard, so far no problem. But after 3 of these errors my hoster blocks my IP! So does anyone know how to avoid this error?

  • This is most likely an awry ModSec rule (or some other security theatre) causing both the 404 error and blocking you when it happens.

If you have access to your modsec rules, you can temporarily disable it to test my theory. If you don’t have control over your modsec rules, kindly reach out to your host for help.
