the detail does, but none of the main pages – events, locations, categories…
how about if you create brand new pages and assign those as new event pages? you can call them whatever you want to begin with, reassign them in EM settings, and test them out, just to see if it works.
Then, you can rename the slugs etc. of these pages and make them children of the events page, hopefully it’ll still work.

ok, so I tried making a test page, and then reassigned the ‘events’ page to it in events manager, whereupon it stopped working. 🙁

that’s because I turned the permalinks off. as I stated in my original post, with the default links it works fine.
i’d suggest temprarily disabling other plugins and/or revertin to the default hteme, and resavig your permalinks, because the behavour you’re describing sounds like a conflict rather than a bug.

I’ve done some more research, and I think the problem is that this site is on an IIS (Windows) server and using ‘almost pretty’ permalinks rather than ‘pretty’ permalinks (http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Using_Permalinks). I’m not sure I will be able to get pretty permalinks to work on this particular host – will ‘almost pretty’ links work with Events Manager?
yes although I haven’t tried it yet; have you tried Events > Settings > Pages > Permalinks Slugs
also, not sure if this will help but maybe you can try similar from this link – http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/removing-indexphp-in-permalinks-using-iis-8?replies=4

Interestingly, that worked for locations, categories, and tags, but the main event listing page is still bust.
As far as getting the permalinks to work, it’s an IIS 6 server, and it looks like the URL Rewrite module isn’t available that far back. I’m talking to the client about whether they want to change servers while also looking for another solution.
glad it worked for others but maybe you can also explore any possibility (using the external) why it’s not on ‘main event listing’ since it’s already working for others.
