When I try to access dashbaord/admin panel of my wordpress site it gives me 406 error. The issue is repeatable.
    1. Website is working fine.
    2. upon accessing /wp-admin page- login screen comes fine.
    3. once logged in for admin dashboard, it doesnt load CSS or javascript. the dashboard looks something like (screenshot) http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/774717674.png
    4. On the dashboard page if we try to click on any link it gives 406 error. http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/774712654.png
    5. website front page also give same 406 error after this event.

Clearing history/cookies or accessing from other browser solves the problem and front page is visible. But not if logged-in.
I use ‘lovebird’ child theme of ‘forever’ template. And have wordpress stored in /wp/ folder in root.
Additionally 404 not found error has encountered while tried to use an errordocument to handle the request.
Tried solution: I uploaded fresh wp-admin & wp-includes folder and removed the old folders. But not solved the issue.

Rename all theme folders to old-theme_folder name. Upload fresh unedited default theme. Rename the whole plugins folder to old-plugins. Try to login. This will remove a theme or plugin issue as a test.

I dont think if it’s anything to do with pluggins or themes. It gives 406 error if I’m logged in. Front-side of the website also shows same error if admin is logged in.

We provide these steps to aid you in troubleshooting your installation. Since you noted you had replaced wp-admin and wp-includes already, the ones left to look at are in wp-content.

You are welcome to think as you do. I think you should follow the advise given.

@seacoast Thank you for trying to help & apologies if my tone sounded harsh. (maybe it’s b/c English is not my native lang.)
I suspect it’s more like issue this guy had= http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/406-not-acceptable-error-while-trying-to-login
& this is the suggested note http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/brute-force-attacks-and-wordpress
But I dont know what action I should take to rename ‘admin’. Should I use phpmyadmin to rename my superuser login name?

    [update]
I disabled pluggins, and themes (earlier). and
I changed my userid from ‘admin’ to something different. Yet I see same screenshot I shared in 1st post.

Apparently when I log in using another userid subscriber/ editor’s credentials, I see everything in dashboards loads perfectly.
