410 Redirect

In the redirect tool, there’s an option to set the redirect type to 410, but I fail to get it to work. I am trying to redirect 410 an indexed image attachment page. It just redirects to the parent page per the Seopress sitewide setting. If I disable that setting (thinking it may be override the 410) it just displays the image attachment page. I even tried deleting the iamge from the media library but the 410 redirect still doesn’t work. Kind of cool though if you replace the image on the parent page and delete the original image it still redirects instead of a page 404, but that’s beside my point.

Has anyone gotten the 410 redirect to work? I’ve even used an http header checker just to make sure it’s not a local caching issue. For those don’t understand, it’s similar to 404 file not found, but just indicates the page was purposely deleted.
