I have upgraded to 5.0.3 through Yahoo hosting.
When I edited my webpage, and click “Update” it gave me a message that said, “Update fail” across the page. I was unable to see any update of my webpage.

I am not a techno savvy person. So, can someone help me to solve the issue with some simple direction?

    Many thanks!

Your site seems to think it’s running 5.0.3. Are you having any symptoms or problems now?

I also upgraded the theme “Twenty Fourteen”. Not sure if that caused the problem.

Yes, it now even gives me a grey screen when I try edit the page

I had the same problem, and went through a myriad of non-solutions. Then, I installed the plugin “Disable Gutenberg” and can now update content and upload media. Note, I had to install the plugin via the zip file as my dashboard couldn’t even perform a search on plugins.

I’m still having search (theme, plugins, my own media) issues.

    Good luck!

@sandbug7, how is that relevant? If you need support then per the forum guidelines please start your own topic.

@healthhealingenergy From DASHBOARD->UPDATES click the button to reinstall WP 5.0.3, just in case it did not complete properly.

    Hi Steven,

Trying to help where I see the same issues I had.

    How is this not relevant???

BTW, I have my own topic started, but since no one is addressing it, I am looking for my own solution, which means coming across ones like this one. Let’s work together!

Well, it may be a block editor issue, so trying installing the plugin “Classic Editor”.

    Steven,

    Thanks a million! Problem solved!

I am a much less sophisticated user than most of you, but I was having the same “update failed” problem. I had updated to the new Gutenburg Editor and after going around and around with my theme support staff disabling and re-enabling their plugins I finally disabled Gutenburg. That didn’t work either. SO I installed Gutenburg Classic Editor just now and I can update again.

Life is good, the new Gutenburg editor is not.
