I would suggest clearing your browser cache and cookies.
I had the same problem with a few client sites which all auto-updated to 5.5 and when I cleared my browser cache/cookies it went away.

To be clear, the problem I was having was not the same exact issue you are having… but it’s always a good idea to clean cookies and cache when having issues after an update.
I have the same problem today, it is not cache or cookies.
When I try to delete multiple users I get ‘the link you followed has expired’ with link text ‘please try again’. If i use that link to try again I end up with the same ‘expired’ message but with no link to try again.
I would consider this a fairly major bug.
Fortunately in my case it is not too bad to remove manually but for some sites it must be a real pain. Does anyone know how to fix it?
I meant to say remove singly not manually 🙂
