    Automatic update to 5.5, then I updated themes as I was told to. I now cannot reply to posts through the admin site but only as a user/reader. I now cannot PREVIEW my next scheduled blog post. I now cannot edit anything! And I now cannot start a new blog post. Error messages include “you are not logged in” even though I am … and “page not found” … and “a problem was found”. HELP! The only things changed were the update to 5.5 and the update to themes.

    This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

    If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    Why would I have to change themes and re-write my entire blog? You say it won’t affect visitors, but changing the theme will. Why wouldn’t an update take into affect the themes? Ok, I will install Health Check if possible … and disable plugins (that I’ve had for years). How irritating. You helped me with a problem a couple of years ago, will heed your advice again.

    Just try the Health Check plugin’s troubleshooting tab exactly as directed, I promise you I don’t take time out of my evening at 11 PM just to lie and screw with people.

    Tried Health Check, no help there. Disabled plugins, cleared cache, no help there. Enabled plugins again. Have reverted to 5.4.1 which is working so far. Your fixes aren’t fixing the 5.5 problems, I’m sorry to say.

    The blog website now appears normal to other people. But I still cannot save a brand new blog post or save edits to current blog posts. I have tried everything you suggested and nothing works.

    Hm, so it wasn’t 5.5 then?

    First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

    If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

    If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

    Checked/cleaned Firefox, no change. Checked/cleaned Google Chrome … WordPress now saves a new blog post and edits former blog posts and saves them! I have now made Google Chrome my shortcut to the admin login. I updated to 5.4.2, everything still seems to work. So it may have been a Firefox issue. Think I’ll leave it for now and tackle 5.5 later today or tomorrow. Thanks James … again.
