5.9.2 Cannot add custom field

Custom fields panel shows only a dropdown for the name of the field.
Verified on 3 sites with 5.9.2 and very different plugins.

STEPS:
– enabled custom fields panel via preference (reload/enable)
– push button add Custom Field

The panel show a title of “Add New Custom Field:”, BUT the “Name” is still a dropdown of existing custom fields, cannot add a new one

(Tried on a page, and a post)

Are you using Plugin that manages custom fields? If so I recommend asking in that plugin’s support so its developers and support community can help you with this.

1- no plugin for fields or anything related
2- your document (image from your response)

is exactly what I do NOT have. Instead of a field name, the dropdown remains.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/health-check/
It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.
