On the local server I have the same problem.
After activating the plugin, I get an error message:
Fatal error: Maximum function nesting level of ‘256’ reached, aborting! in D:\OpenServer\domains\wordpress-test-plugin.loc\wp-content\plugins\the-events-calendar\common\vendor\lucatume\di52\src\tad\DI52\Bindings\Resolver.php on line 339

server configuration:
Apache 2.4
PHP 5.6
MySql – 5.5
Your problem might be resolved by looking at the line in your php.ini file that relates to the maximum nesting level.
Try it out.
I now have additional Information:

Hey @lewishackfath & @samick2,
After some testing, and a few other reports of this issue, we’ve determined this to be a bug. It’s been reported and escalated, and should be fixed in a future update.
I’ll keep you posted on any temporary fixes we come up with, as well a when this gets permanently fixed. Thanks for hanging in there and for your patience!
Best,
Shelby 🙂
For internal reference: Bug #71958
Hey,
I’m reaching out to let you know that we just released a fix for this issue. Please update The Events Calendar to versions 4.4.1.1 and let us know if this actually makes the issue right in your site.
Best,
Nico
I ended up moving everything to a Linux based server as I was not sure how long it would be before a fix was released.
However I have migrated back to IIS in order to test the fix.
It has been resolved.
The Plugin successfully activates and functions correctly in IIS.
Hi @lewishackfath,
Thanks so much for following up to confirm that the fix worked properly on your end! 🙂 I’m going to go ahead and mark this thread as resolved, but please don’t hesitate to reach out with a new post if you should have any other questions or concerns. Cheers, and thanks again!
