500 Error when installing W3 Total Cache on Multisite

Hi!
I have a multisite blog with three different languages site, using Multilingual Press:
http://www.travelling-treasures.com/I tried to activate W3 Total Cache and all sites crashed with a 500 Error Code. We tried to fix this by removing the plugin and looking for solutions, but non of the solution was applicable for Multisite. I had to run a complete backup in order to get the site back up.
Is there any trick or something that could be done differently in order to install W3 Total Cache on a Multisite? Or are there Multisite Plug-ins that are rather compatible with W3 Total Cache?

W3TC works great on multisite in my experience. In particular, I love that it gives network admins the ability to manage subsite settings without setting on a per subsite basis (as opposed to many of the other cache plugins out there).
I’m guessing that the issue here was to do with their server setup (eg. apache not set to look for htaccess files below a certain directory depth) or possibly something weird with their multilingual setup (which can often have issues with other plugins).
