    Greetings,

When I logged into my site admin, it displayed a 500 error with no additional information. The site itself was working fine, but not the admin area. I deactivated all plugins, then reloaded the admin area. Dashboard is displayed.

Next I activated plugins one by one. Turns out the Ultimate Appointments caused the 500 error. Any ideas why this might be occurring?

    Some additional information…

I don’t recall doing anything out of the ordinary in the days leading up to experiencing the problem… I created some draft posts/pages, updated some plugins. That’s pretty much it.

I did some additional testing. I deactivated all of the plugins I’m using. Then I reactivated only Ultimate Appointment Scheduling. The 500 error appeared.

Next I deactivated Ultimate Appointment Scheduling and reactivated all of the other plugins I’m using and there was no 500 error.

Next, I remembered that I added an appointment in which the phone number was a Russian number. I thought maybe that the non standard US phone number format (even though I’m pretty sure there is no format for the phone number) or the + for the country code was causing the problem, so I edited the appointment, directly in the database, and removed the phone number. 500 error remained.

I think there is one more thing I need to test… trying a different theme, like Twenty Seventeen. I’ll do that at my earliest convenience and report back what I find.

But I hope you’ll look into this soon. I currently have the Ultimate Appointments plugin deactivated so that I can access the admin area of my site. But I’d really like to get this plugin turned back on soon.

    Thanks,
    William

    Hi William,

Thanks for the in-depth information. Unfortunately, 500 internal server errors are vague and don’t let us know what’s really going on. You said that, if you activate just our plugin, and no other plugins, then you get the error. That’s strange, as, no matter what we do, we can’t recreate this in our dev environments. That makes me think that you are probably correct about it being a certain value in one of the fields for one of the appointments that is causing the conflict. Since you can get in the database, could you please try deleting all the appointments that you have, straight from the database? Are you then able to get back in to the admin?

Hmm, that’s interesting. I deleted the appointment that had the odd phone number, which I had previously deleted from the record. There weren’t any suspicious characters in any of the other fields that I recall. But, deleting that record fixed the issue.

    Thanks,

    William

    Hi William,

Thank you for following up and letting us know that you were able to get it working again and what did the trick.
