• Hello.

I have posted this before but it was closed due to inactivity (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/internal-500-error-when-replying-to-post/).

If you search for “error when replying” or “error when commenting” you will find multiple topics about errors.

    Things i have tried.
    changing htaccess file name
    turning off all plugins
    changing themes
    reinstalling wordpress
i have turned on the error logging but no errors are logged.

    I would appreciate some help.

    Thanks

I am sorry, the title of this should be “500 Error when replying to Post”

I can’t reproduce this in an installation with TwentyTwelve without any plugins. My guess is that some plugin is the cause. My recommendation would be to enable debugging – then you should be able to identify the exact cause: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

Thanks for the reply. I have previously turned off all plugins, and have had debugging on for a year. Not a single error has been logged with debugging turned on.

I will go through all of the steps again.

Hi @jdalby – sorry to hear you’ve been having this issue for so long!

I see you’re using the Jetpack comment form, and not the WordPress core commenting functionality. To get the best help, I’d suggest you reach out directly to the Jetpack folks for troubleshooting help with the “500 internal server error” issue. You can either reach out via this form or post in their forum.

If you’re still getting the same error even after deactivating the Jetpack comment system – i.e. while using the core WordPress commenting functionality – I’d recommend posting in the Fixing WordPress forum, since this isn’t a theme issue.

I hope you can get your issue resolved through one of these two routes!
