Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for anything useful. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.
1. Create a text file named php.ini
2. Write this code — memory=20MB
3. Save the file
4. Upload the php.ini to your blog directory under /wp-admin/ folder
and this will solve your problem.

I am a novice 🙂 I have followed your steps below:

4. Upload the php.ini to your blog directory under /wp-admin/ folder – This is the bit I have an issue with as I can not access my admin page, ive tried typing it in the url…. so im not sure how to upload this file please help 🙂

Hey netleon, thanks for your suggestion. It worked for me as well. I had seen it elsewhere, but also saw about amending the wp-config file as an option, which I did, but to no avail.
Question is, why does it happen? As far as I can see, no changes have been made to the site or the files in any way. Do you know James?
@heavenlytoys, the wp-admin folder should be accessed through the back-end of your site – your FTP account will give you access to this.
