    Hi there

When I use the shortcode to allow users to upload their own avatar, everything looks good.

I can select a file to upload, but when I try to upload the file I just get a 504 Gateway Time-out.

    I am hosting with Flywheel.

Any one else experienced this issue?

    Thanks

  • I’m hosting with DO and same issue, when trying to upload image or “save profile” it gets hung up, there are no errors in the apache error log. Just noticed this issue now, could be due to the latest WordPress update (5.5.3)

Please advise as to a solution or an estimated update for a fix 🙂

    Cheers

@hadenhiles Not sure if it’s the same for you, but I had loads of blank images in the media library too with the file name of the user had tried to upload.

So maybe it was partially completing, timing out and restarting. I’m on shared hosting so can’t change max execution time to test.

@stephobrien72 I wasn’t aware of it, but I just checked and it’s the same in my environment. Hundreds of blank avatars, and it’s just me testing the site before launching.. lol

Any idea how to escalate this? I might need to find the solution myself soon.

In the end I ditched the shortcode, interestly it seems to work on from the profile page of BBPress – which displays automatically when ‘Allow users to edit avatars’ is checked.

Hmm, interesting.. unfortunately I’m not using BBPress and I need the shortcode to work inside one of my custom memberpress account tabs. I’m hoping the plugin developer can get on this ASAP… fingers crossed!

Same problem, WP 5.5.3, hosting with DreamPress, Theme is Generate Press, inserting WP User Avatar into MemberPress restricted page. Seems like everything is working but it times out every time. Hundreds of blank uploads. I wonder if there might be a conflict with WordFence?

I think it’s a conflict with WordPress 5.5.3… I don’t have Wordfence and the problem persists with all other plugins disabled (except memberpress in my scenario since that’s where I render the shortcode).

If we don’t get a response or an expected fix eta then I’m going to debug the issue myself later this week.

I am on 5.5.3 and it’s working fine for me. I am guessing a plugin conflict.

Can you all try with all other plugin disabled to see if it works?

    Hi Collins

I haven’t tried with all other plugins disabled – though in @hadenhiles last post you can see they have – with the exception of the Memberpress where they are using/attempting to use the shortcode.

I assumed it is a conflcit with Memberpress, but I guess looking for some guidance as to how it might be rectified, whether it was know issue etc.

    Thanks in advance.

The issue is resolved in Version 2.2.8 of the plugin. I didn’t notice any mention of the fix in the release details but none the less, it works in my full production environment now.

    Thank you!

Rats, still having the same problem even after the update. I am having an issue with my test site so I can’t test each of my plug-ins separately yet to see if there is another conflict.
