Subject: 504 Gateway Timeout Error on wp-admin with WooCommerce Plugin Active

    Dear WooCommerce Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue with accessing wp-admin on my website. When I enter my credentials and attempt to log in, I encounter a ‘504 Gateway Timeout’ error. This problem appears to be directly related to the WooCommerce plugin, as it persists even when WooCommerce is the only active plugin and the site is using the default 2024 theme.

    Details of the issue:

    • The error occurs only after submitting login credentials.
    • WooCommerce is the only active plugin on the site.
    • The site is running the default 2024 theme.
    • The issue is specific to the wp-admin login process.

I have attached a screenshot of the error message and the relevant logfile for your reference.

Your assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Usman Rais

    Hi @usmanraees,

Thank you for reaching out to WooCommerce support. Based on the details you’ve provided, it seems like the issue arises after you submit your login credentials, which indicates that the problem could be related to a server-side resource issue or a conflict with the WooCommerce plugin itself.

To help us pinpoint the cause, could you please provide a few more details:

    1. Have you recently updated WooCommerce or WordPress before this issue started?
    2. Are you using any server-level caching solutions or a Content Delivery Network (CDN) that might be affecting the wp-admin area?
    3. Could you check your hosting environment to ensure that the PHP memory limit is sufficient for WooCommerce? The recommended minimum is 128MB, but 256MB or higher can be beneficial.

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    • Clear all caches: If you’re using a caching plugin or service, clear all caches, including server-level and browser caches.
    • Increase PHP memory limit: If the PHP memory limit is low, it can cause this error.
    • Check server logs: The server error logs may provide more details on what’s causing the timeout. You can usually find these logs in your hosting control panel or by contacting your hosting provider.

Once you’ve tried these steps or if you need further assistance, please reply with the additional information requested, and we’ll continue to troubleshoot the issue together.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
