Just to update am running couple of sites on IIS 7.5 on 2008 R2 and these sites are with wordfence latest update and running fine.

we do not officially support Windows servers but we try to help when we can. We added a fix for installation issues on Windows in version 6.1.5 and it seems to have helped some people. In your case you would need to check the error logs to see if you can find more information on what is making the sites crash.
Solved – Server was running an old version of PHP.
Went through the manual setup as described here: http://www.iis.net/learn/application-frameworks/install-and-configure-php-on-iis/enable-per-site-php-configuration-on-iis-60-and-iis-7-and-above
