We tried at our end and everything seems to be working fine on 7.0.6 version. Could you please provide some more details so that we can reproduce the issue?
Essentially all I did was make a post. Then I visited my site and click the tweet button.
Then users told me the link from my tweet didn’t work.
I checked my Twitter timeline and clicked the link. Worked for me, could be why you don’t get the problem.
Only other people get the 404 error.
So you can test by making a post, tweet with your button. Then tweet to your users to see if the link worked.

I removed and reinstalled your plugin.
Got the same people to test as before and now it’s working properly.
Always worked for me but users said they had the problem.
