  • user wanted to created 3 pages using ‘ebook’ as the title

As you’ve mentioned, the -1 -2 -3 suffix is added automatically to prevent issues with duplicate permalinks. WordPress thinks you’re creating multiple pages/posts of the same name (which apparently, you are) and adds the “-1,-2,-3” in an effort to know which one to display.

Would it be any more of a practical/convenient solution to simply modify your ebook page naming conventions slightly and avoid the issue entirely? Example: /ebook1 /ebook2, etc.. something specific to each page.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Your idea to modify the naming convention is great as it would really solve the problem. The problem is there are many links on other pages that we will not be able to update. So if I modify the naming convention, the site will loose traffic driven by those links.

Are there any other solutions (that would allow to keep urls as they are) available?
