A "classic" php code replacement for a [subscribe2 link]

You’ll need to check the AJAX setting (which is really just an jQuery popup) in the Appearance tab of the Subscribe2->Settings page. Then use the ‘link’ parameter in the shortcode, like this:

[subscribe2 link='Click here to subscribe']

Works fine when I try it in post content, you must be doing something wrong.

That’s because the content isn’t parsed by WordPress so you need to be explicit and tell the code what to do Roth the shortcode. You do this by calling a function, in this case the do_shortcode() function.
