Hi, I’ve been planning to transition from my current CMP platform to Complianz, but before buying the premium version I wanted to test out the plugin’s basic features, and in the process I’ve come across three issues.

Firstly, the cookie scan detects cookies relating to third-party services I no longer use on my website (e.g. Google Fonts, Google reCaptcha, Iubenda), even though I made sure they’re not referenced in my code anymore and cleared the cache. When checking the Network tab in Chrome’s Developer Tools I see the only requests to Google Fonts are sent by Disqus, but despite temporarily disabling it and clearing the cache once again, “Google Fonts API” still appears among the cookie scan results.

Second issue is related to Disqus itself, as well as Contact Form 7. I noticed they load up before giving consent, though I set Complianz to block them beforehand.

Finally, there’s a whole bunch of cookies that aren’t associated to any service. Most of them should belong to adv networks that collaborate with the adv platform I rely on for monetization (eADV). The only exception is probably “__gads”, which CookieDatabase should be familiar with (DoubleClick).

I’m planning to enable CTF once I get Complianz Premium, will that help identifiy them? I don’t have the proper info to manually register them.

    Cookie "geo-location"
    Cookie "_sharedID"
    Cookie "__gads"
    Cookie "panoramaId_expiry"
    Cookie "_cc_id"
    Cookie "panoramaId"
    Cookie "euconsent-v2"
    Cookie "cto_bidid"

I apologize for the long post, I wanna thank you in advance for your support.

    Hi @simsworldit,

    Integrations

Some Disqus URL’s might’ve changed, so I expect that not all of its scripts are blocked yet. For now, you can use the below set-up under Complianz > Integrations > Script Center > Block a script, iFrame or plugin to block this service.

    Detected services and cookies

If the services such as Google Fonts and ReCaptcha still appear in the list when they are no longer in use, perhaps you have still selected that your website uses those services under Complianz > Wizard > Consent > Services > “Select the third-party services that your website uses”.

After disabling those, you could delete the list of cookies once under Wizard > Consent > Cookie Scan and perform a re-scan in a fresh Incognito window, to ensure that you’re starting from a clean slate.

But you can always decide to “hide” those specific cookies from your Cookie Policy, as long as you’re certain that they aren’t actually in use anymore (Wizard > Consent > Cookie Descriptions > Expand the cookie it concerns by clicking it > Untick “Show on Cookie Policy”).

    CookieDatabase

The results will be the same between Free and Premium, though it seems that your list does include at least one cookie, __gads, which is already described on CookieDatabase (https://cookiedatabase.org/cookie/google-doubleclick/__gads/).

So you might need to perform another “Sync” under Wizard > Consent > Cookie descriptions.

The cookies without available information are reported to the moderators at CookieDatabase for further review, and will be updated once their information becomes available. But you can always ‘unsync and edit’ manually.

    Kind regards, Jarno

Thank you for your answer. Disqus is now properly blocked before consent.

As for the cookies, Google Fonts and reCaptcha were already unselected in the “Services” section, but they still appear in the results.

To be precise, this is what I get after the first scan (i.e. mostly functional cookies)

    ONESIGNAL_HTTP_PROMPT_SHOWN

    wordpress_test_cookie

    wp-settings-1

    wp-settings-time-1

    _ga

    _gid

    wordpress_logged_in

This is what I get after I go to “Cookie description”, wait for the plugin to sync with CookieDatabase, and go back to “Cookie scan”. While some cookies are indeed supposed to appear as I selected the relative services (e.g. YouTube, Twitch ect), that shouldn’t be the case for “Google Fonts API” and all cookies relating to reCaptcha.

    Hi @simsworldit,

Either they had been detected at an earlier point and re-appear when performing another scan & sync, or these items are still being detected on your site at the moment.

If you’re certain that the latter is not the case, you could opt to delete, or hide these from the Cookie Policy as described previously (Wizard > Consent > Cookie Descriptions > Expand the cookie it concerns by clicking it > Untick “Show on Cookie Policy”).

    Kind regards, Jarno

Thank you again for your reply.

I’m still having troubles blocking Contact Form 7 before consent, despite having the Complianz option switched on. Any idea on why it happens? Maybe I need to add it too to the script center, just like Disqus?

    Hi @simsworldit,

Could you elaborate on the reason why the Contact Form itself would need to be blocked?

    Kind regards, Jarno

    (@simsworldit)

From what I understood, that would be because I have to ask for consent for the purpose of Contacting users, although it’s just a request/support form. Also, the Complianz option to automatically block it was enabled by default, which made me think even more that it’s a necessity.

    Hi @simsworldit,

For the purpose of collecting personal data with a contact form, you might need to add a consent checkbox. You can refer to our earlier article to see if that might be necessary in your case: https://complianz.io/do-i-need-a-checkbox-on-my-contact-form/

Just to clarify: the integration that you mentioned doesn’t block the Contact Form itself, it’s intended to block the ReCaptcha implementation from that plugin (although it’s no longer supported from CF7 version 5.4 and upwards).

    Kind regards, Jarno
