WPForms plugin was deleted without a notice from my WordPress website page, and was only shown an error message by Wordfence on the WordPress plugin dashboard temporarily before the message disappeared later with no track of any info or email regarding the deletion, including inside the plugin audit page. How the hell is that possible and does anyone have an explanation for this? Thanks for your help in advance.

-I do not recall the error message.
-The app called WPForms was updated recently to the latest version and had no issue prior a few days ago.
-WP had the latest version before the very last one before May 20th new release.
-I did find the plugin data in the WP website backend files and was able to rename the folder to install the plugin again and retrieve my data successfully.
-If you don’t have an answer after reviewing this info, move a long and don’t bother me with amateur questions, I’m not a newbie.

Hi @joeymwallace, thanks for getting in touch.

Wordfence doesn’t have the functionality to rename, disable, or delete plugins. If malicious code or a vulnerable plugin version is found during a scan, it is flagged for the administrator to take manual action in the “Results Found” tab.

The timeline/behavior you describe suggests a failure during a WPForms plugin update, possibly during an auto-update if you have it turned on.

WPForms was on version 1.10.0.5 from 14 May 2026 and remained consistent during the WordPress 7.0 update on 20 May. The update to 1.10.1 on 28 May seems like the one that failed: https://plugins.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/log/wpforms-lite/

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for taking the time to look into this. That seem reasonable. Will keep you an eye on it.
