Hi! I really love the MailPoet plugin and appreciate the effort that the team is always putting into it.

I don’t think that my problem is really specific to me; from what I can tell, it’s an issue with the plugin itself, so I am not seeking support, per se, but rather making a suggestion for an improvement. Perhaps you are already working on this, but just in case, I hope you will address this soon.

Rather than sending out newsletters, we just use automatic post notifications. The instant notification emails include the entire post. We do this for our subscribers’ convenience, even though it means very few clicks, and this is how our emails have worked for some time now.

Unfortunately, the post within the email does not have correct formatting if there is anything other than a straight, plain paragraph. For example, if there is a blockquote, the email will not space the paragraphs within the quote correctly, nor will there be any space between the blockquote and the paragraphs surrounding it. Also, if I add any kind of css class to a paragraph, the spacing between that paragraph and the ones around it will disappear. This makes the email harder to read, naturally.

The only workaround I have is to leave out all such formatting until just after the post goes up, then go back and edit the post to add all that formatting. Aside from the extra time this costs, this also means the post is often up without proper formatting for hours, because I always schedule posts ahead of time and am not in my admin panel when they go live. It’s not like we are a running a high-traffic site, but this is still not an ideal situation.

Is there any way to get the plugin to correctly format the posts in emails?

A great bonus would be if it could also include highlights (the “mark” html tag), but if this tag cannot be rendered in an email, that’s okay. No big deal. 🙂

I would consider this plugin perfect for my needs if this issue is resolved. It’s still great either way, of course! But correctly formatted emails would be fantastic. 😀
