    Hi,

    I came from Shopwired to WP/Woo and previously with orders had the option to archive an order once it was completed/shipped/dispatched etc.

    Looking at the menu and options with woo there isn’t such a feature.

    When you have a LOT of orders, several pages and want to keep the completed orders but not delete them, what option is there for this?

    If anyone knows of a plugin that will let you archive orders that’d be appreciated.

    Best,
    Scott

    Hello @offbeatteez 👋

    Out of the box, there’s no default option in the orders page to archive them in WooCommerce. This can be done using a third-party plugin or via custom code.

    This is a plugin I’ve found, it should work even if it’s not quite up to date.

    Another option would be exporting orders using the export tool under WP dashboard > Tools > Export Orders. When you click the button “Download Export File” WordPress will create an XML file for you to save to your computer.

    Before archiving orders, it’s a smart idea to create a backup of your website and database. This way, if you accidentally make something worse, you can easily restore your site to a functioning state.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks @rainfallnixfig

    I had seen that but didn’t bother with it as it hadn’t been updated for 3 years and was untested with the current version of Woo so thought best not install something that could be buggy.

    I did test orders and deleted them from the dashboard but of course they are deleted from the users account order history which is no good.

    Surprised there isn’t a current plugin for this as what do other people do with orders – just let them build up?! seems crazy to me that.

    If you can leave this topic open and see if anyone else replies with alternatives please.

    Best,
    Scott

    Hi @offbeatteez

    If neither of @rainfallnixfig’s suggestions work for you, you’d want to either look for another plugin or create a custom plugin. In the latter case, I’d recommend getting in touch with a web developer or one of the services on our Customizations page: https://woocommerce.com/customizations/

    @maykato

    I tried the 3 year old plugin which works in a fashion.

    You can’t use bulk actions to archive several orders which is a shame.

    Instead you have to open each order and change the order status to shipped (archived) and then update, a little more time consuming but it’s the best current option (free) out there.

    @offbeatteez

    This is a fairly complex development topic. I’m going to leave it open for a bit to see if anyone is able to chime in to help you out.

    I can also recommend <a href="https://developer.woocommerce.com/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">the WooCommerce Developer Resources Portal</a> for resources on developing for WooCommerce.

    You can also visit the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/advanced.woocommerce/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">WooCommerce Facebook group</a> or the <code>#developers</code> channel of the <a href="https://woocommerce.com/community-slack/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">WooCommerce Community Slack</a>. We're lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there, as well.

    This thread has been inactive for a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
