    Hello,

When I update a plugin, it also updates the edited CSS file. How can I prevent edited CSS file from updating when I update a plugin? The plugin will be updated, but the CSS file will not be updated. How can I do that? I did file permissions (444 – Only read) but it didn’t work.

Add your custom CSS under APPEARANCES -> CUSTOMIZE -> ADDITITIONAL CSS. Don’t edit the plugin files.

    Hi dear Steve,

I copied all the lines from the plugin’s CSS file here (Addititional CSS). I will ask something else. Is there any other solution?

That’s NOT what you should do… You only need to put the overrides in Additional CSS. That’s the proper solution.

I made many changes. I don’t know which lines I changed. 🙁 What should I do?

You can either leave it as it is, with all the redundant CSS or take it all out and work only the changes back. It depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it.

I copied all of css lines. I did a test now. It was not 100% same. 🙁 There are minor changes. I did not understand. 🙁
I gave the file 444 for permission. Why doesn’t this happen?

You are “doing it wrong” by trying to preserve the plugin’s CSS file. Fix up your overrides…

Use the Chrome Developer Tools or Firefox Developer Tools to help you see and test changes to your CSS.
