I decided to make a separate thread for this question …
Maybe I’m wrong, but is itemprop added not only to the visible part of the content?
ie not to meta tags, and to the descriptions, contacts, and so on?

Description meta tag is used mostly for the snippet of search results in Google and it is recommended to fill no more than 160 characters. Description in schema.org Yandex on the recommendations should be larger than 250 characters, and if we write 250 characters in the meta description, then, in my opinion, we can earn a minus in karma from Google under the pretext of reoptimization.

so the question – why is used schema in the meta tags?

Hi someone02,

This is an optional feature to add improved schema.org / microdata support that some search engines may look for; itemprop can be used on tags that aren’t visible as well; on schema.org they give the example of the meta tag for this. If you don’t find this feature helpful, you can turn it off as well.

Hi, Possibly it is allowed, but w3c validator gives an errors on itemprop.
It says:Attribute itemprop not allowed on element meta at this point.
And “The itemprop attribute was specified, but the element is not a property of any item.”

It’s just I used to clear all errors and warnings.

Hi yerbol05,

If that’s important to you, then don’t use it; in practice, the W3C Validator doesn’t recognize everything that people actually use on the web.

Hi yerbol05,

Itemprop is allowed on a Meta element according to the rules of Schema.org but the W3 validator does not understand Schema.org markup.
