Absolute beginner absolutely lost

    I’m moving from the server of an acquaintance to a GoDaddy server.
    These are the steps I’ve taken so far:
    1) Downloaded the sql to my desktop.
    2) Logged into my account and found the phpMyAdmin.
    3) Figured out how to log in and found the import button.

    I need to know what these things are:
    1) It is asking for the character set
    2) It is asking for the SQL compatability mode

    I’m just going to leave the partial import stuff alone.

    Am I even on the right track here? Thank you for any advice/suggestions you can offer!

    Hi,

    It should detect character set automatically. Leave all the settings default and it should work fine. If not, we’ll at least have an error message we can work from.

    You are on the right track definitely.
