I have been trying to get Photonics to work with my Google Photos account all afternoon. I am hitting a roadblock when I come to Authentication Step 2. When I click the Authenticate button, I receive the following error: Access blocked: Authorization Error “My google account name” The OAuth client was deleted. If you are a developer of this app, see error details. Error 402: deleted_client.

I attempted to do the Authentication Workaround. I completed steps 1-3. On step 4, I copied and pasted the two URLS in the “Input Your Own Scopes” box. When I click the Authorize APIs button, I get the same error listed above. The instructions say that I will be taken back to OAuth 2.0 Playground, but that doesn’t happen.

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but hope someone can provide some assistance to get this plugin working.

    Thank you.

This doesn’t look like it is related to Photonic. See here. It looks like you have an error in how you set up your API Project / Client ID in Google. You might want to start a new API project and use the Client ID from that.

    Sayontan,

Thank you for replying. So I did go back and created a new project to get a new client ID. I was able to Authenticate using the work around, and on the authentication page for Photonic in WP, under Google Photos, I have a message stating, “You have already set up your authentication. Unless you wish to regenerate the token this step is not required”. So that tells me that I completed all the steps successfully.

Now I have a new problem. I created a new page called Photo Gallery. I added the Photonic Gallery block. I clicked on the Add Photonic Gallery. I select Google Photos as the Gallery Source & hit next. On the next screen, I select that I want to show Multiple Photos & select next. The 3 dots flash to show it is processing, and then I get an error saying “No data returned. Error code 401. It doesn’t matter if I select Photos from an Album Belonging to You, Photos from an Album Shared by or with You, or Multiple Albums from the dropdown box, I get the same error.

I couldn’t figure out how to show my two photos so here are the links to them on my Google Drive.

    Photo 1: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iaVJ9SxjD_ZifqzCMG_ivAcFwJYcKaw6/view?usp=sharing

    Photo 2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y51-UtxLAg2lbWa9x6BOPFaei3RiDErB/view?usp=sharing

I would really appreciate any help or advice that you can provide. I really want to get this app up and running on my site.

One more question. I know that in the instructions for Google it starts off saying how unbelievable hard it is to get Google to work. Would Instagram or Flickr be easier to work with? I would want to try to solve my Google Photos working first since it would take a lot of work to transfer them to another service.

    Thanks.

Error code 401 corresponds to an invalid access token. One thing you can probably try is to fetch the galleries after about an hour. The access token is stored in a “transient” and clears out after a bit of time, so hopefully the next time you run this, you will see the information.

Would Instagram or Flickr be easier to work with?

Instagram… hell no! Flickr – absolutely yes! Instagram is not supported on Photonic any more. The code exists, but Instagram needs me to have a business before I can use their API, so that is a bust. Instagram is also plagued by a hugely deficient platform – poor resolution, no concept of albums etc. Flickr is a lot easier and more feature-rich by contrast.

That being said, let’s try and see if Google Photos can be made to work.
