Accessible to Screen Readers

    I have to develop a website to support visually disabled, who will be using screen readers, such as JAWS. Is Tablepress accessible to screen readers, or are there some general guidance available. I found one from Boise State, but am curious if there are other guidance available.

    Hi,

    thanks for your question!

    In principle, TablePress is only adding HTML code for a table to the web page, so there’s nothing really special here that should cause trouble to screen readers.

    Now, things are different when it comes to using a screen reader on the TablePress screens in the admin area (i.e. when such software is needed to edit/manage tables in the backend, and not just view it on the frontend). Here, TablePress is not fully accessible, but that’s something that I’ll be working on in the future!

    I don’t have other special guidance here, sorry. My recommendation would be to maybe give TablePress a try to see if using the screen reader software works as intended.

    Thank you for the quick response. I don’t need admin pages to be accessible, only the front end. I shall test them out with actual users. My initial test with one user led to some difficulty with e-speak software on an Android device, but will test further with JAWS and NVDA screen readers (the two main readers we want to initially support).
