Accessing install.php

    I know I’m referencing the right path, but for some reason I get a 404 error when trying to call install.php the first time. I’m hosted on GoDaddy (know about the problems with that one…), switched over to Linux hosting, uploaded all my files to the base directory for my current blogger blog. When I try to use my browser to go to http://myblog.com/wp-admin/install.php no dice 404 error. Would this have something to do with blogger or GD? I can get to a stats page that is in a subdir off the root, so its not like I’m referencing the wrong path or have restrictred access to subdirs.

    Why? I mean why not give WP its own directory and have a clean install?

    Wouldn’t that change my domain then? People wouldn’t go simply to blahblahblah.com, they’d have to go to blahblahblah.com/wp, right? I have an already established blog, so continuity is important. That is, unless I’m misunderstanding something.

    maybe your .htaccess is rewriting your request.

    What does it look like ?

    Sorry, not familiar with that file, where is .htaccess located? I did notice if I just try to point my browser to xxxx/wp-admin, it changes the address to wp%2Damdin

    Follow up: GoDad takes several hours to change hosting types, will this error occur if it is still on ASP model and not cut over to PHP?

    Well, if you want “continuity” first you have to install it, then you have to import the blogger posts and if everything works you can still move it where you want in 3-4 easy steps.
