Hi, is there a way to enable two-stage registration so that when a user registers, they must confirm their account by clicking on a link sent via email? I am hoping to further protect against spam registrations. I already have reCAPTCHA and WP Armour running, but I am suspicious about the number of people registering.

Yes, you can enable e-mail activation for the Registration default Role.

I tried activating “require email activation” option, but it didn’t work when testing… please help!

I turned on the setting, registered as a new user using incognito and a spare email address, it let me into the website without confirming registration via email. It auto approved despite the setting being changed to require activation via email.

What is your “Registration Default Role” at
UM Settings -> General -> Users?

Set this Role to “Require Email Activation” at
UM User Roles -> Edit -> Registration Status

Activate the “Account Activation Email” at UM Settings -> Emails

For a secure Email transport use a SMTP Email service provider
