Why are users who have not yet activated via email already wordpress users?
Let me see if I understand your question correctly. For example: You are saying that Bob who is not a member in your site is registering as a member but he has not yet activated his membership via the email he received. He now has a WP User account even though he has not registered as a member via the email he received. Is this correct?

Hi, The following email activation feature is a Simple Membership plugin only feature. It only applies to the SWMP members and the SWPM plugin’s content protection in general:

WP by default doesn’t have a concept of account status the same way our plugin does. So it doesn’t do anything there. I will look into it to see if there is anything we can do to the WP user side of things.
