I’d also like to add, that as part of my investigation of the problem, the plugin exploit scanner found the following dangerous code in Activity Plus…

Often used to execute malicious code response = eval(“(” +
doc.body.innerHTML + “)”);

Hello there @energynet,
The posts are obviously posted, but you have to refresh your page in order to see them. This is a known bug and the plugin developer is already working on a new version of the plugin that will solve this issue (and a lot of other issues as well).
As for the exploit scanner, the plugin properly sanitizes everything and there is no issue to my knowledge. The scanner probably just saw this part of the code that can be used to execute malicious code if not properly sanitized and reported it. Nothing to worry about. π
I hope that helps!
Cheers,
Ari.
I appreciate the response.
Just to let you know, it was Activity Plus that originally convinced me to look into the use of BuddyPress as a community tool, so IMHO, its a huge resource!
Is there a suggestion box for it? Of course, its old Facebook look alike design could use a few upgrades, similar to what FB has done, mirroring their design plays a major role in convincing people who are not familiar with alternative social sites to get involved.
@aristath @energynet, having the same issue. After resfresing the page, the post is visible. It would be great if this issue would be solved. Cheers, Jack
Hey guys. Just keeping you updated. The developers are still working on this. We hope to have a fix soon!
I have a meeting with the developer on Monday. I’ve added this to my notes to get a progress update.
Hey there!
I just wanted to let you know that we just updated the plugin yesterday, could you please check this new version and let us know if it fixes your issues?
I am using version 1.5 and when I add post info, then add a link (clicking preview) I can see the preview. Then click to add link the post shows with no post text, no link info, or thumbnail at all – its blank. It’s confusing for my members because there isn’t a post update button showing letting them know to submit their post containing the link.
I do also have BuddyPress Media – is that the problem?
The end result is an activity post entry showing that something was adding to that group / forum, but you can’t find what. I’ve refreshed and signed out and in to see if that fixes it. Doesn’t. I also deactivated and re-activated.
Seems to be fine with I deactivate Buddy Press Media. Is there anything I can do or will I need to choose between the two plugins? Of course like we’ve heard, these two plugins handle separate needs.
Does it display correctly after you refresh the page?
I had to deactivate Buddy Press Media in order to get Activity Plus to work. Now it will as long and I don’t have both plugins activated. Is that correct, there is a conflict when having both active?
Thanks for the upgrade. Any new content now shows immediately. However, there still seems to be the issue where it doesn’t seem to find images on a page, even though they exist. This may have to do with the type of site, as it does work with a few newspapers I’ve tested, but not one particular blog.
Actually, It would have been kind of nice, with how FB did their upgrade, making it so that the user no longer had to chose the media type.
Another option would have been the ability to drop in a number of links at the same time and have them all register in individual posts – kind of a batch load of sorts – maybe a limit of up to 10 for example, so it can’t be abused..
@energynet Ibelieve there already is a limit of 5… π
@organizediy do you still require assistance on this issue?
The original message about the failure to post does appear to be fixed.
Thanx for the fix
Mike

Ok that’s great thanks for letting us know π
