hi @joe704la, I got tired of waiting for this functionality so I’ve had a go at doing it myself.
I’m sure it’s not the most elegant way of doing things but I have it working on my buddypress install.

basically it works fine, but those smileys are mostly to far to the left side and some are not showing up for a reply, how or where I can fix it that the smileys are coming up about 100 pix more to the right side?

It causes some pretty big performance issues
what performance issues have you had? I’ve been running it on a site for 9 months and haven’t noticed any problems.
My users started complaining about performance. I reached out to my hosting thinking it was them and they pointed specifically to the queries the Activity Reactions comments queries as the cause of the slowness.
