Can you please stop advertising your premium version in places other than in the UD dashboard itself? Our website admin areas are not billboards!

No plugin should manipulate any part of a website without explicit permission. Failing that, there is one very easy solution. If UD is removed from my sites for violating these rules, it won’t be the first.

Every single time I run normal WP updates I get this obnoxious banner for UD premium about automatic backups before updates, a banner which is only rendered after initial page load, pushing the page layout further down.

Thank you, my sites are already backed up every hour by other means. Your ad banner needs to go from the update area, and stay gone.

  • Hi Sean,

This isn’t really a support question, it’s a complaint about our plugin’s ad banners.
As such I will forward your comment to the Marketing team for their consideration.

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

It kind of is a support question. The plugin is interfering with site functionality/layout in ways that it should not be.

It’s quite simple; if the banner doesn’t go, the whole plugin goes, and there will now be zero chance of me ever getting premium. I have it on 10 sites.

    Kind Regards,

    Sean.

    Hi Sean,

    Thanks for your message.

The reason I said it’s not a support issue is the functionality is behaving as is intended.
That’s not to say you don’t have a fair point about the layout shifts you’ve mentioned.

There isn’t anything we in support can do to remove banners, they’re part of our plugin.
Hence, I’ve done what I can by communicating the item to the Marketing team for you.

The Marketing team will decide if any change is necessary and work with development.
We in support don’t have a ‘fix’ for this as currently nothing is considered to be broken.

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

Thanks. I would have complained directly to marketing, if I knew how to.

But, this is where I got the plugin, so this is where I submit the complaint.

Perhaps I can help marketing decide a little quicker, if a change is necessary; they have put a banner in another part of the website, where they have ZERO business putting one. These are not honest intentions. It really needs to go, or the whole plugin goes, because these banners break the layout of my websites.

Or, just give me a quick script for functions.php to make the banner go.

    Kind Regards,

    Sean.

    Hi Sean,

    Thanks for the update.

It’s OK, the Marketing team will review your comment and discuss internally.
They’ll decide if any changes are necessary once they’ve looked at the item.

    Best regards,

    Nick
