• We add ads to our website based on what categories the blog posts are in. This has worked well with AdRotate until recently. I’ve noticed that one specific category on our website (Missions) always has ads that should not be shown to that category.

The ads being shown should be exclusively on our “Discipleship” and “Spiritual Disciplines” category.

Also, I’ve added ads that should be shown to the “Missions” category, but they are not showing up. I’ve looked through the settings and code, but I can’t figure out where this issue is coming from.

Sounds like you added a group to the wrong category. Or perhaps a stray shortcode somewhere.

How are you placing the adverts? With a shortcode? Post Injection?
Do you use caching? If so, which plugin?

Thanks for the response Arnan! I double-checked to make sure the groups are in the right categories. And the shortcodes should make no difference – they are only in the advert settings themselves.

I’ve created a group for every category of post. When I add in an advert, I assign it to only one of those groups. I inject the ads after the 8th paragraph.

We use caching through WPEngine, but purging them didn’t make a difference.

If the shortcodes are in the right pages that indeed should make no difference 😉

The way you describe your setup, it sounds all good. A group in a category, adverts in the group… Little can go wrong there.

The only kink is then WPEngines cache, some people run into trouble with it. But usually that the rotation of adverts is not working reliably.
Caching of-course does not switch advert locations around…

As a test – Does it work if you change the post injection to show before the content?
