Adapting theme help

Can anyone suggest a website or book that helps create a basic theme step by step. I would like to adapt my theme I built from scratch but need a refresher on the steps and how to add in the new bits from 3.0.

I have found blogs describing the new features but am looking for more detail on how to add it to a basic theme

My site is working fine just want to take advantage of the new stuff in version 3

I know I can use the Codex here but again I kind of know what the tags and code are I just need a refresher by example of how to put them together.
