Add Facebook Posts by URL
-
By the way, I tested it with Graph API Explorer, simply passing the number 10151947998883669 and the post came up.
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer?method=GET&path=10151947998883669
(You will need to set an access token at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer before the correct results will show. I just left it as general permissions.)
And once you associate the Facebook post to the WordPress post, you can then look for comments to the Facebook posts and then include them as WordPress comments.
Example: GET /10151947998883669/comments
That’s exactly what Social does.
I think you misunderstood. There is a field where I can manually enter Twitter posts. I do not see any field for manually adding Facebook posts.
Sure there is: http://d.pr/i/9egv
That appears to broadcast a new Facebook post (which I can’t get working for some reason). How do you attach a post that is not broadcast by the Social plugin; that already exists in Facebook?
This is the feature I am talking about:
http://blog.morepossibilities.info/wp-content/uploads/Import-Tweet.png
http://blog.morepossibilities.info/wp-content/uploads/Import-Tweet-2.png
The Social plugin does not detect Facebook posts that do not use the expected URL (for example, JetPack adds &fb_source=pubv1 at the end of the URL and the Social plugin cannot detect the post).
I’m REALLY missing this feature, too and I’m somehow surprised how this issue get’s ignored by the author just after he realizes, that this really is missing.
I used jetpack for over a year now and all of these posts cannot show the comments happening on the posts published by jetpack.
I also wonder why the unprecise query API is being used instead of the way more reliable FQL version to query for posts containing the specific URLs.
Dear Alex, PLEASE have a look into the issue with the URLs generated by Jetpack or at least the possibility to manually add posts just like it is with twitter.
You’re welcome to create a plugin that customizes Social to support the feature you want. Let us know if you do and we’ll include a link to it in the FAQ.

Would it be possible for you to add functionality to import Facebook comments into WordPress similar to how you can do it now with Twitter.
For example, if you click on the date posted on the Facebook post (in Facebook), it opens the comment in its own page, with an identifier in the URL, similar to how Twitter does it.
Example:
https://www.facebook.com/scott.m.stolz/posts/10151947998883669
Notice how this is similar to how Twitter does it:
https://twitter.com/WisTex/status/386591305008041985
Assuming the Facebook post’s privacy is set to public, would it be possible to add it to a post as a WordPress comment?
