• Server nginx/1.2.1
    PHP v5.4.45-0+deb7u5
    MYSQL v5.5.52-0+deb7u1
    Wordpress 4.6.1

In the last few weeks have notice strange behavior on our server which hosts approx. 20 wordpress sites. When we do a create post on a site and it reuses the old permalink. It appears to have the problem on all of our 4.6.1 installations. We’ve done it on different browsers and restarted both nginx and php.

We did a fresh install of WordPress with no plug-ins and the behavior was the same. The strange thing is we have a site on an older version of wordpress and cannot reproduce the behavior on that version. This might be a known issue with WordPress and Nginx or something else and I didn’t search correctly.

The CPU and Memory usage is not maxed out.

    Your assistance is appreciated.

Did a fresh install of WordPress 4.5.2 on my server using the exact same setup as a 4.6.1 install to verify it was/n’t an issue with my server configuration. It appears to be an issue with 4.6.1.

Created 9 pages without issue on 4.5.2 and as soon as I upgraded and started 2nd new page it used the permalink from the previous page.

This post goes one step further and shows there an issue with the get_permalink() function.

I’m currently running/managing more than 12 WP 4.6.1 sites and I’ve never come across this, so I can only assume that this is server specific. Does the problem occur using the default (plain) permalinks?
