Add to Cart Shortcode

Hello, I have a question regarding how to edit the look of the add to cart button when I place it into a separate area from the product.
In this link it gives the shortcode and args to edit it. My question is where would I put the arg so that I can edit how it looks? I just want the literal button, not this big grey box that it has to be inside as well. This should be simple to answer. ^^; I just need to know where to place it so I can edit it. Thanks!
