Adding a message when gallery is load

    Is there a way of adding a message above the dots that come up whilst the images are loading on a page. Ideally something like

    Please wait whilst the images are loading
    Loading image x of xx

    I have some galleries that have 600+ images so they take a few seconds to load.

    Also, is there a way of getting the gallery to split across pages?
