Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
There is a button on the right side of the visual editor icons, kitchen sink, make sure that is turned on.
Same prob here. I’m new to WP, but the editor did work before. Now all it shows is some buttons like b, link, some list options, code, lookup, ect. No text formating, alignment options, or kitchen sink. Also no html editor. I installed Ultimate TinyMCE hoping it would help, but it didn’t. It’s the only plug in I have, and is now disabled. Switched from Graphene back to Twenty Eleven theme, still no help. Couldn’t find a plugins folder thru phpMyAdmin, but wouldn’t know how to reset it anyway ;P Googled this problem and found a lot of reports but no solutions. Even made sure there wasn’t a dreaded “;” after the temp link in site_url … Any suggestions or revelations would be great 🙂 thanks … http://whub27.webhostinghub.com/%7Ebonehe6 .
LMAO. Nevermind. Had “disable visual editor when writing” checked in User Profile …
Having same problem!
Have tried upgrading to Twenty Eleven. Didn’t work.
Have deactivated all plugins. Didn’t work either.
Don’t know what “There is a button on the right side of the visual editor icons, kitchen sink, make sure that is turned on. ” means – what button????
Struggling and very frustrated!

Sorry, it is a little icon in the same row with all the other editing options. Check your user profile like bonehead13 did.
I’m having the same problem and nothing has worked.
