• I have downloaded the latest version of the Suffusion theme to my computer and uploaded it to my remote server, but it isn’t being listed on the Appearance menu as an “available” theme. It appears to be listed in the “suffusion” directory on the host’s server. Perhaps I should have loaded it directly into the “themes” directory instead of this subordinate directory. I’m not sure about this. Why isn’t it being shown as being available? What do I need to do to correct this problem? Thanks for your help with this.

  • Hi Bob,

Just to be clear, the theme folder should be placed in the directory:

    /wordpress/wp-content/themes/

Is that where the folder is located? Make sure that there isn’t a folder within a folder (which sometimes happens if you’ve downloaded a .zip). One file to check is ‘style.css’ which is in the downloaded theme’s folder. In your case that should be here:

    /wordpress/wp-content/themes/suffusion/style.css

Just gotta get that directory structure right and it should show up (as long as the theme has been properly made!)

I think that I mistakenly put the new version of the suffusion theme into the “suffusion” folder that was already in the wp-content folder. That is probably why it isn’t being shown as being “available”in the Appearance menu. I’m in the process of moving it now. I’ll see if that corrects the problem. Thanks.

I have the suffusion theme for version 3.3.6 downloaded into the theme directory of my blog, but I can’t get my FTP program to download it into the remote theme directory. The process keeps failing. What could be causing this? The process worked before when I put it into the subordinate folder. Do I need to load this theme file by file? What should I try to do to complete this process?

When I transferred the new version from the downloaded suffusion folder of its folder into the themes directory on my remote site, the new files apparently replaced the current files from the older version. The new version is now available from the Appearance menu. I assume that all I have to do now to use it is to activate this theme and then set it various features to my choices. I hope that I can do that without causing a lot of new problems. We’ll see. Thanks for your help with this.
