    Hello,
I would like to know how I can add a section for blog posts under some text on a page? On the template for blog you can’t have text before the blog posts.
Second, I would like to make it so if I have upcoming events they will show up under the heading on my front page of up coming events, but if there are no up coming events, then I would like some text to show that says something like
    There are no scheduled events
    Here is my website:

    Thanks,

    Hey,
    1. There is an option for this in the premium version by using shortcodes, but unfortunately this doesn’t work in the free version.

2.There isn’t a built-in option for this, but I think you can achieve with a plugin. Check out this one- https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/event-list/

    Hello,
I will try the above, but I will probably buy the payed version as it does exactly what I want.
    Thanks,

OK, that seemed to do it…
But why would my web browser be on mobile settings?
    Hm…
Also, why is there a different setting for mobile when there are 3 menus for desktop? How does that work?
    Thanks,

frastlin, I assume this is a response for https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/secondary-menu-is-not-showing-up?replies=13
The mobile menu appears when the screen reaches below a certain width. The footer menu stays, but the primary and secondary disappear and mobile menu takes over. What screen size are you using?

    Thank you.
I got that plugin working, but while looking through all the settings, I found where I could put recent blog posts on the home page.
I was able to use another plugin to change the category after a certain date, but I have three problems:
    1. Like so many before me, I can’t seem to display my blog posts in full without the expand button. I have all locations for blog posts set to full, although I only really would like the front-page to be full.
    2. If there are no blogs in the category, I would like to show a display message.
    3. Is there a way so that people can subscribe to my new events?

Have you guys considered building a quality latest events page to use blog posts? Do you get a lot of people asking questions about showing events on the front page?

    1. If your front page is set to latest post page you can set the summary setting to full in theme options > home layout under page content options. The other settings only effect the blog page.

    2. Your best option for this is to create a display message as a blog post. You can go back and forth between it being published or being in drafts.

    3. Again, you would need a plugin.

To be honest, I don’t recall anyone asking about an events page. But it’s something to think about.

    Hello,
I do have it set as full, here is a screen-shot:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14968661/Theme%20Options.jpg

The only thing that I don’t understand is the text right above the field here it says:

    Latest Post Display
If Latest Post page is font page. Choose to show full post or post excerpt.
    Full
    Full

    What is font page?

Is there any way to add text below the heading so I can either put a link that says something like:
    view past events
and or a link that says:
    subscribe to events?

Here are just the posts that I found that talked about an events page. They talked about themselves making an events page, but it wasn’t in the subject name.

In settings > reading do you have your front page set to your latest post page? That’s what this means.

There isn’t an option for this. You would need to edit a child theme.

An events page is something we can look into. Does using a plugin not work for you?

Ahh, OK. I don’t want that because then I can’t add other stuff onto the page.
The plugin is too cumbersome as the events aren’t considered blog posts.
I also can’t customize the look of it.
I think all I would need would be:
    1. a way to write html or markdown in for the header and text under it.
    2. A way (not needed as the current way is fine now, but it would be nice) of customizing how the posts showed under the heading.
    3. Also nice, but not really needed is a template for adding events, kind of like the plugin above. Only have them be blog posts and not their own thing.
    4. have the ability to set a date for the event to change tags.
    5. have the ability for me to change the message in HTML or markdown if there are no events.
    6. Possibly have a way to hook into a service like mail chimp so events can be sent out as an email to subscribers.

All of this can be done with plugins currently, but the amount of code is not that much and the amount of plugins for this is quite a lot.
