OK, well I had used your second option before
and it wasn’t working.
I just tried:
$url = ‘http://reviewsworthreading.com/wp-content/images/title-‘.$blog_id.’.jpg’;
But not change with that either.
You only uploaded title-1.jpg and title-2.jpg That site’s blog ID is 3, but no title-3.jpg exists.

OK –
Thats good, we have a result π
http://websitetomobilewebsite.org/
BUT the image has been cut to the size of that
header font.
I was hoping that I could put the image in the whole space from the top of the page down to the menu line – it looks about the same height as the original image I used.
AND of course I will not want that second image in there.
Hmm.

Rod and Ipstenu – thanks very much for your help π
In order to change height of that title, can I do it with that function you wrote, or do I need to find the line in the page.php template, then make a new template in the child theme with a line to replace the title and also do similar to drop the image ?
Rod, I guess you don’t have 2 header images ?
What method are you using ?
Thanks.
When I wrote “images named title-1.png, title-2.png and so on” I meant that I can have as many as I want, and so can you π
No, you do not need to mess with the templates if you only want to change the appearance slightly. You can do that by adding rules to style.css in your child theme. For example, you could set the height of the site title to 180px to match the height of your image, and then you will see the whole image.
When you want to change the appearance for all the sites, do it in style.css. When you want something different for each site, do it in the function where you have the blog ID to work with.
The Themes and Templates forum is a better place to discuss the use of CSS.
And it;s much, much easier to pick a theme that has options to do this in the admin area. that way the per site settings are saved in the database and you do not have to do any spelunking in code with a bunch of if statements.

HΔ± – yes, I understood that, I hope to have about 15 sites done sometime soon.

I meant 2 header images in the same webpage. I want to get rid of the original header image which is under the menu.

So I was asking if you get rid of that lower image by using a new template in the child theme to over-ride the original template.
Hope thats clearer π

What is the best way to search for these themes.
It takes me ages to find a theme I like, and then it doesn’t have the options I need.
Thanks for helping, I am a newbie !!!
.
Coraline has an option to remove that image. It’s under Appearance, on the Header page.
Coraline is one of those themes where you can set a separate image for each site, but the image you can set is not the image in the site-title, as you have already discovered.
What is the best way to search for these themes.
The theme repo and the theme install inside wordpress has a dozen different checkboxes to search by criteria. π
